Cinema du Reel has grown into one of the major documentary film festivals. Founded in 1978 it is organized by the BPI-Bibliothèque publique d'information (Public Information Library) in Paris.
The festival presents about 200 films per year in several sections by experienced documentary directors as well as first timers. In addition to screenings, the festival includes workshops seminars and a retrospective program highlighting the best of documentary cinema history.

The documentary "Road to Mecca" made by young Kyrgyz film-director Miss Asel' Juraeva had selected into the International competition program.
Synopsis of "Road to Mecca": The film is about the inhabitatnt of Alga small village in Osh region of Kyrgyzstan - a 80-year old Sulaiman Turdubaev. He has been dreaming of going to Hajj to Mecca for many years and has been saving the money. So, when he got enough money for this lonf journey, he suddenly decides to restore an old monuments in his village, deducated to soldiers who died during the II. World War. And all of his savings are spent for it.
