On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

Best Kyrgyz short films will be shown at the frame of the 2nd Korea-Central Asia Film Show 


Kyrgyz best short fiction and documentaries will be shown at the 2nd Korea-Central Asia Film Show this year (November 18-20, 2011). Mr. Paul Lee, international producer of the Cinema Development Fund have promoted it for this event.

 

It will be two programmes. We are publishing the list of the films, which will be shown there: I Want To Live, Asyl, Shore, The Border, Neighbours, Duty Of The Son, Everything Is OK, The Devil's Bridge, Nomad Encampent, The Dog Was Running.

Four Kyrgyz migrant workers are transporting their recently deceased comrade from Kazakhstan back to their homeland in Kyrgyzstan for burial.  As they are passing through passport control at the border, it appears that the deceased doesn’t have a migration card.  A conflict between the Kyrgyz migrant workers and Kazakh border guards dashes any hope of crossing to the other side.
Tashkent Ijodiy Parvoz Festival of Young Cinematographer of Central Asia
worked as a camera assistant at Kyrgyzfilm Studio in the early 1990s.  He then attended film classes at the Kyrgyz Art Institute, where he was trained in the field of directing as an assistant director.  Since 2000 he works as a screenwriter and director for the production company Djebe.
Selected Filmography:
Aleksandr is a harmonica player, and Zinaida is a singer. Since 1994 they have been making a living by playing music and singing in the open markets.
 
 He is also director of the Kinostan International Film Festival that is held biennially by the scenic shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan.

Together, the two homeless boys struggle to survive on the tough streets of the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.

Baku International Film Festival
studied at the Kyrgyz Art Institute, and went on to work as a set designer.  His first feature film, The Adopted Son, won the Silver Leopard direction award at the 1998 Locarno Film Festival, and also won four awards at the Angers Film Festival 1999.  His second feature film, The Chimp, won the FIPRESCI award at the Bratislava International Film Festival, and the Special Jury Prize at the 2002 Festroia-Troia International Film Festival.

Working by day, and attending classes in the evening, a thirteen year old boy earns a living in one of Bishkek’s markets, by wheeling a primitive cart that is overflowing with meat, from the local abattoir and back.  Whatever he earns he brings home to help feed his mother and siblings.
 
**Special Jury Prize (Broadcast Category), 2005 “Protection of Children’s Rights” CompetitionASYL was her first film.
 
In addition to her first film ASYL (co-directed with  made BİZİM İLBİRS (co-directed with Emir Özdeğer), which was awarded Honorable Mention in the National Environmental Film Competition at the 3rd Mountain Film Festival in 2007.
