From September 22 to 26, 2025, for the first time in Central Asia, the international workshop projectSerial Bridges will take place — an initiative by the legendary French festival Series Mania and its training arm Series Mania Institute, organized in partnership with the Almaty Series Festival and supported by the Institut Français (French Institute).

Series Mania Institute regularly organizes workshops for emerging screenwriters and developing professionals in the world of series. Previously, the program was successfully held in Rio de Janeiro and Istanbul. In 2025, it will come to Central Asia for the first time — to the city of Almaty. The workshop is designed for a maximum of 7 creative duos (screenwriter and producer) from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan working on a series project.

This initiative will be part of the Almaty Series Festival — the first industry event in Kazakhstan entirely dedicated to series and aimed at promoting Central Asian content on the global stage.

What is the workshop about?

The goal of Serial Bridges Central Asia (SBCA) is to provide participants with deep insight into the international series market, with a focus on promoting their projects internationally, preparing for European co-productions, finding funding partners, and developing their scripts with guidance from international experts.

The Prize — a Trip to an International Forum

The program will conclude with a pitching session in front of a professional jury. Based on its results, one team — a producer and a screenwriter/showrunner — will be invited to attend Series Mania Forum, which will take place in March 2026 in Lille, France.

Who Can Participate?

Applicants from the above-mentioned countries may submit an application to participate in the workshop. Eligible submissions include series projects in the development stage. Each duo must consist of a screenwriter (or showrunner) and a producer working together on the project. At least one team member must be fluent in English, as the workshop involves international experts.
