Inaugural first Kuala Lumpur International Film Academy Awards promises spur new cinematic talent globally

Kuala Lumpur, 9 Jan -- The First Kuala Lumpur International Film Academy Awards (KLIFAA) 2024, slated from 7th to 11th August at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), heralded an event that promises to be a landmark celebration of cinematic excellence.

The Chairman of KLIFAA Tengku Azlan ibni Sultan Abu Bakar when unveiling the extraordinary vision and goals of the inaugural edition of KLIFAA 2024 said, the event is set to be a testament to the artistry of filmmaking and the universal language of storytelling.

“KLIFAA 2024 aspires to be more than an awards ceremony; it aims to be a platform for cultural exchange.  The event will highlight the festival's commitment to promoting diversity, artistic excellence, and inclusivity in the global film and television production industry,” he said at a press conference at FINAS, here, today.

Tengku Azlan said, the festival's comprehensive program includes film screenings, panel discussions, masterclasses, networking opportunities, and a prestigious awards ceremony, all geared toward igniting a passion for storytelling and filmmaking.

“Accreditation for this monumental event is available to filmmakers, artistes, producers, industry professionals, journalists, photographers, TV reporters and crews, radio reporters and crews, online reporters and crews, news agency correspondents, PR agents and film students and enthusiasts eager to immerse themselves in this celebration of cinematic brilliance.

“KLIFAA 2024's theme, Inspiring Brilliance, Igniting Passion, encapsulates the event's spirit, aiming to bridge cultures, provoke thought, and inspire creativity on a global scale.  The event will focus on celebrating emerging talents, nurturing creativity, and recognizing exceptional achievements in Feature Films, TV Dramas, Documentaries, Short Films, and Animation,” he added.

Talented artists and filmmakers worldwide are invited to participate and contribute to this cinematic extravaganza by submitting their works for competition and non-competition categories from March 1 to May 31.

The launch was also attended by KLIFAA president Dr Hasan Hamzah, festival director Datin Paduka Shuhaimi Baba, vice chairman Datuk Afdlin Shauki, executive director Zafor Firoze, programme director Zaini Hassan, National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Kamil Othman, Finas chief executive officer Datuk Azmir Saifuddin Mutalib and Creative Content Association of Malaysia (CCAM) chief executive officer Datuk Mahyidin Mustakim.
