XVI Eurasia IFF announced the winners

 

Festival: XVI Eurasia International Film festival

Place & dates: Almaty, Kazakhstan, 12-18.12.2022

 

 

 

On December 18,in Almaty took place the closing ceremony of the XVI Eurasia IFF.

 

Over the past festival week, the audience and participants of Eurasia watched films from 25 countries. All the screenings were full house. Fifty films participated in various programs of the festival, three of them are world premieres – Beautiful Helen, Boran and Auyl, as well as the international premiere of the film Don't bury me without Ivan. Two Asian premieres have also been held – these are Cold as Marble and The Call of God. The audience also saw four films nominated by their countries for the Academy Award, as well as the film Esimde – the winner of the Asian Oscar – the Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

 

Within the framework of the festival, master classes, comprehensive Work-in-progress programs were held with the presentation of new films by Kazakhstani directors, fourteen press conferences and a round table Vectors of development of Kazakh cinema were held. The guests of the festival participated in themed parties, and the TV diaries of Eurasia, for the first time in the history of the festival, were broadcast on two TV channels of the country at once.

 

In turn, the authoritative jury of the festival summed up the results of the screening and determined the winners in the competition programs in several categories:

 

International Competition Program:

 

Best Film – Esimde (dir. Aktan Arym Kubat, Kyrgyzstan )

Best Director 's Work -Levan Koguashvili (Brighton 4th, Georgia)

Best Director 's Work - Asif Rustamov (dir. Cold as marble, Azerbaijan)

Special Jury Prize – Kamara Kamalova (dir. Road to nowhere, Uzbekistan)

Best performance of a male role -Navid Mohammadzadeh (Beyond the Wall, Iran)

Best performance of a female role -Shen Shi Yu (A Woman, China)

Diploma of the Jury – Katay Dauli for the role in the film Boran (Kazakhstan)

Diploma of the Jury - the film Don't bury me without Ivan (dir. Lubov Borisova, Russia).

Diploma of the Jury - the film Il Boemo (dir. Peter Vaclav,Czech Republic).

 

National Competition Program:

 

Best Film – Red pomegranate (dir. Sharipa Urazbaeva)

Best Director 's Work –  Serik Aprymov (Aul)

Special Jury Prize – Otau (dir. Alisher Zhadigerov)

Best performance of a male role -Alikhan Abildin (Summer ends soon)

Best performance of a female role – Olga Landina (Zere)

 

The Jury of NETPAC (International Organization for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) also worked at the festival, which determined its winner – it is the film – Fire (dir. AizhanKassymbek, Kazakhstan).

 

Recall that at the opening of the festival, the famous Uzbek director Ali Khamraev, who heads the Jury of the International competition at the current festival, was awarded a special prize “For his contribution to the development of cinema in Central Asia”. In turn, a special prize “For contribution to Kazakh cinema” was awarded to cultural critic and public figure Murat Auezov.

 

 

The ceremony ended with a demonstration of the winner's film.
