Information about "Kurak" project which was selected to Meeting Point of Vilnius film festival 2022

"Kurak" - new project by Erke Dzhumakmatova & Emil Atageldiev, Kyrgyzstan-Switzerland, fiction

 

"Kurak's" synopsis:

 

Young girl who secretly works as the webcam model in a closed studio, becomes a victim of the blackmailer - "dirty cop" who has his own plans for her.

 

Woman curator, art critic, who organizes a scandalous exhibition "Feminalle" dedicated to the problems of inequality and violence against women in Kyrgyzstan, causing wide public outcry and scandal, which is attacked by national patriots who think that the exhibition dishonors the Kyrgyz people.

 

And woman, whose young daughter commits suicide after her is drugged and raped and later leaked her photo and video on the Internet. The rapist is the son of a powerful politician, and she is trying in vain to get a fair investigation...

 

All these stories are not separate, they are closely intertwined and affecting to each other's.

 

This is a complicated, tightly connected, single narrative.

International industry event Meeting Point – Vilnius 2022

 

Meeting Point – Vilnius is the work-in-progress audiovisual industry event to discover, develop and support European talents and upcoming debut films. It aims to build a network between different European macro-regions: from the Baltic to the South East, from the Caucasus to Western Europe.
