Light Thief received Special jury prize at Cines del Sur IFF, Granada, Espana! The film by Aktan Arym Kubat "Light Thief" ("Svet-ake") awarded Special jury prize - Bronze Alhambra at 5th International Film Festival, Granada, Spain for The Jury Values the work of the director for his ability to convey a very simple, local issue that represent a metaphor of the reality of a whole country. It was between June 4 - 10, 2011.
The aim of the Granada Film Festival ’Cines del Sur’ (’Cinemas from the South’), which is a Andalusian regional Government initiative, is that both Granada and Andalusia become a key player in the current international circuit of exhibition and promotion of films made in the countries of the so-called geopolitical south, Asian, African and Latin American regions, with special attention to the Arab world, which has always played a significant role in the History of Andalusia.
The Festival provides a space for the meeting of young filmmakers and established talents from these countries. And therefore, it will allow the screening of both new productions and emblematic and historic works.
The Festival will be the platform for annual meeting of films coming from the South, which represent the African, Asian and Latin American areas.
