'The Swing' will be shown at the two IFF
The Swing has been selected as Finalist in Asian New Force Category at The 25th ifva Festival in Hong Kong (26.02 - 06.03.2020) and the 21st BUNTER HUND – International Short Film Festival Munich (05-08.03.2020).
Film-director of the short fiction 'The Swing" - Samara Sagynbayeva now is a student of FAMU International Directing program.
The Swing Samara Sagynbaeva (Kyrgyzstan) Col / 20' 38" / In Kyrgyz with English subtitles An old and honest man Bolot works at a village school supplying heat. When the coal in his house is used up, his wife persuades him to steal some from the school despite the school only has limited storage.
Diretor's statement: I made the film as part of my application to study at FAMU International and they accepted me. About the idea, I personally know this story. It means I was born and studied in the village. My Dad's brother worked at school in a village as heating man. This idea came from my childhood. This film is not only about my Dad's brother, about corruption, but also ecological and immigration concerns in Kyrgyzstan.
