At the frame International fusion festival ARALASH will be shown the film Oedipus made by famous theatrical director Ovlyakuly Khodjakuly in 2004 at Kyrgyzstan.
Artists of three countries: Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan took part in the project Oedipus.
Addressing the classics of the world dramatic literature by the modern theatrical companies of Central Asia should not be surprising. Regional playwrights are not ready to create plays reflecting realities of the present life. Therefore Turkmen director Ovlyakuly Khodjakuly fixes his eyes on William Shakespeare, Alisher Navoi, Oscar Wilde.
If one refers the plot of Oedipus to realities of modern Turkmenistan, then the parallels are obvious: the rules – a son of Motherland – Turkmenistan calls himself the Father of Turkmen people, if fact being just the son. That’s why the director Ovlyakuly Khodjakuly in his own interpretation squeezd the spring of the plot to extreme in the first marital night intrigues of ill fate are recealed.
