Reception of applications for Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is still in progress

 

On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

What about 2010?!

 

2010 year full of success for Kyrgyz cinematography. There were a lot of new projects, films, participations in the International film festivals and prizes.
 
So, one of the full-length Kyrgyz films is a movie of director Aktan Arym Kubat «The light-thief».
 
Film has started their way in Festival de Cannes, than participated in following festivals: Locarno (Switzerland), Toronto (Canada), Mongolia, Moscow – «Moscow prime» (Diploma from Moscow House of nations For cultural dialog contribution and understanding between nations); Anapa - «Cinemashock - 2010» (2 prizes:Film critics and film experts prize «Elephant», the other one is a Prize for best male role); Almaty, Kazakhstan - "Eurasia"( Grand Prize and the prize of the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI); Tajikistan – «Didor» (Grand prize); the Prize of viewers' sympathy on XX Kottbus International film festival (Germany); two prizes of XVII Minsk International Film Festival «Listapad-2010»: Special jury prize, the other one is Special executive committee prize of CIS «Cinema without borders»; Special jury prize on Amiene International Film Festival (France); Jury prize «Netpac» at the 14thTallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
 
«The light-thief» included by The Global Film Initiative in Global Lens 2011. Global Lens, now in its eighth year, will premiere January 13-28, 2011, at the Museum of Modern Art before embarking on a yearlong tour of over thirty-five cities across the United States and Canada. Movie has official application on Academy Award Oscar-2011.
 
This film will be rented in France, German, Holland, Japan and Canada. The movie director expresses his confidence that the number of countries buying his movie will be increasing.   
 
The other Kyrgyz filmmakers as Elnura Osmonalieva, Nargiza Mamatkulova, Alijan Nosirov etc. have participated in the International film festivals and won enough prizes.
