Film The light thief by Kyrgyz director Aktan Arym Kubat has been awarded the Grand prize of the festival.
The filmmaker himself did not participate in the award ceremony, therefore the prize was awarded to Kyrgyzstan’s representative – film expert Gulbara Tolomushova.
In the chapter of the short films the main prize was awarded to One Way Road of Afghan moviemaker Basiri Sangi, who was the youngest in the festival. The picture tells about the problems of religious extremism. Iran moviemaker Majid Barzgar has received the main prize for the best direction. His Season of Rains tells about the problems of mutual relations of a teenager with his parents, as well as with the society as a whole.
This film festival, which is held once in two years, has hosted more than 60 films from 12 countries. Apart from film-winner Kyrgyzstan was represented also by short film Earrings of Nargiza Mamatkulova.
The grand jury was headed by renowned Iranian filmmaker Kamran Shirdel. The jury also included Ludmila Cvikova, the film expert, program director at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam (Netherlands), Ali Khamraev, the well-known Uzbek filmmaker, Shamsulkhan Orienfar, the film expert from Afghanistan and Tajik art critic Lutfia Ayni.
A jury of the International Network for Promotion of Asian Film, headed by Gulbara Tolomushova, also worked at the festival. This jury includes Tajik film expert Robia Atoeva and moviemaker, Chairman of Afghanistan’s Cinematographers’ Union Dzhavonsher Khaidari.
Kyrgyz films were always among winners of the film forum: Village Administration and Rapid River, Calm Sea (2004), Frontier (2006), Unknown Route (2008).

Kyrgyz filmmakers have got Grand prize of Didor Film Festival, Tajikistan
