Kyrgyz film by young film director is participating in Ismailia International Film Festival

Film "Cradle of Happiness" by young Kyrgyz director Asel Juraeva was invited for competition in The 14th Ismailia International Film Festival

The Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentary and Short Films takes place every year in Ismailia (Egypt) to promote an intercultural dialogue for a deeper understanding of others by presenting their creative works to the audience and to encourage filmmakers of documentary and short films.

This year's Festival takes place on October 2 – 9, 2010 with 78 films from 35 Arab and other countries participating in five official categories. It's :

- Long Documentary Films competition [more than 60 min]
- Short Documentary Films competition [maximum 60 min.]
- Short Feature Films competition [Maximum 60 min.]
- Experimental short films competition
- Animation Films [Cartoon - Puppets – Computer Graphics]

There are also non-competitive sections and opportunities for debate. For example, a number of films dealing with violence against women are shown on the sidelines of the competition. Prizes for best film will be presented by the Association of Egyptian Documentary Filmmakers, the Egyptian Association of Cinema Critics and the Center for Appropriate Communication Techniques for Development (ACT).

The Festival was opened to a dance performance choreographed by Mahmud Haggag. The jury was then introduced and the opening 2009 film "American Faust: From Condi to Neo-Condi " directed by British filmmaker Sebastian Doggart, was shown which tells the life story of former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The Ismailia Festival is unique in that it focuses on documentary filmmaking; a genre long absent from the agenda of cinematic interests.

The festival takes place in Ismailia, a city located 130 kilometers east of Cairo.
