One World Kyrgyzstan: temporary job

Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights

In its eighth year, the VIII International Festival of Documentary Films on Human Rights continues to provide a shared site whereby artists, human rights organizations and the Kyrgyz public are united by their desire to contribute to social change. Presenting the best films from across the country, the Festival will challenge, touch and inspire audiences from all walks of life. The strength of the human spirit and the capacity of a human rights based approach to protect the most vulnerable members of society is a common thread that runs through all of them.

The VIII Festival will be held in Bishkek from October 7-11, 2014. Prior the Festival, the team will organize a bus tour around the country to collect record and shoot best stories on human rights challenges faced by the local population of Kyrgyzstan in rural areas. The produced film shall be presented at the Grand Opening Ceremony of the Festival on October 7, 2014.

The Festival seeks a young professional in documentary filmmaking or television journalism with strong videography skills to produce a short documentary film about human rights issues in Kyrgyzstan. The video will document the best stories by the rural residents of Kyrgyzstan on their engagement in social change projects to be screened at the grand opening of the Festival on October 7, 2014.

The Filmmaker will work closely with an International Filmmaker to identify programs, individuals, and families to profile in the film. During the ten day bus tour (September 5 to 15, 2014) across the country, joined by the creative festival team, the filmmaker will investigate a vast pool of potential characters by conducting face to face interviews and site visits. Thus, the filmmaker will serve as a main liaison between subjects and the production team; and attend shoots in various locations.
