Reception of applications for Kazan International Muslim Film Festival is still in progress

 

On February 1, submission for the XX Kazan International Muslim Film Festival started. The submission will last till June 1, 2024. The Selection Committee will finish its work by the beginning of July. After this, the official selection will be announced.

NETPAC Award of the 7th Abu Dhabi Film festival goes to Harmony Lessons (24.10-02.11.2013)
 
The NETPAC Award of the 7th Abu Dhabi Film Festival for the perfect artistic realization of the theme of confrontation of a person with all mechanisms of marginalization in a society goes to the film Harmony Lessons made by young film-director from Kazakhstan - Emir Baigazin.
 
The NETPAC Award is given at international film festivals designated by NETPAC.
 
It consists of the NETPAC Certificate giving the name of the Film, the Director, the Festival and the Citation and the Netpac Trophy. 
 
The Jury should pay special attention to new directors. Netpac’s mission is to highlight new talents.

Synopsis. A meticulous and successful 13-year-old science student faces the daily taunts of schoolyard bullies at his village school in the lonely steppes of Kazakhstan. Tired of suffering in silence, he methodically prepares his revenge.

Info about director: Emir Baigazin was born in Kazakhstan in 1984. He studied film and theatre directing at the Kazakh National Academy of Arts. In 2007, at the Asian Film Academy at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, he won the Asian competition with his project Steppe and was selected for hands-on training with directors Mohsen Makhmalbaf and Pen-ek Ratanaruang. He also an alumnus of the 2008 Talent Campus of the Berlin Film Festival.
